Hi.

Welcome!

Serenity's Favorite Movies

I got her to sit still for this very cute picture by putting a movie on the tv, probably Tinkerbell at this time. Yes Andrew, that's cheating ;)

Favorite Movies:

Super Why:  Serenity has seen every single episode of Super Why thanks to Papa spending a lot of time recording them for us.  She loves the show so much, probably because it focuses on the alphabet which has always been one of her favorite things.  She knows all her letters, the sounds that the letters make, and even how to recognize maybe thirty words, and how to spell a few as well!  It’s so much fun to watch!  We also spend a lot of time on her Super Duper Computer and on pbskids.org (which is funny to hear her request by name), and she can really play the games, even if she can’t work the mouse yet.  She loves Princess Presto’s Spelling Bee, Create Your Own Superhero, Bingo, and Alpha Pig’s Match Up.  She also likes Wonder Red’s Freeze Dance Rhyming but needs a lot of help for that one.  It’s just fun to see Wonder Red Dance.  We have several of the books as well that we read.  I was amazed that she would sit through a thirty page book at just over a year old but she was completely fascinated.  It’s so cute, when Princess Presto said to take a bow she would, and whenever Alpha Pig says “Thumbs Up” she would grab Mama or Daddy’s thumb with her whole hand =)  She also has all the figurines and she loves on them a lot too.

Talking Word Factory: My sister had the Letter Factory DVD for her kids and I loved it, but by the time we let Serenity watch tv she pretty much knew her letters, so I went ahead and got the Word Factory even though I thought it would be a while before she could actually read or spell words.  Well, she again proved me wrong.  She knows all the –at words thanks to this movie, and she often tries to sound words out.  It has extremely catchy tunes, and I have gotten “Sticky Icky Letters” stuck in a lot of people’s heads.  She asks to watch this nearly every day, and if not this one, then Math Circus

Math Circus: Another Leapfrog DVD that Daddy got for her before she was even born.  The show is pretty funny, all the numbers learn their jobs by performing in a circus with acrobatic quidgets.  At one point, she would run to get me when the cannons went off, I think the booming noises scared her.  =)  She knows all her numbers and likes to count.

Tinkerbell: Tinkerbell was her first non-educational dvd.  She was obsessed with everything Tinkerbell for months!  She’d wake up in the morning and ask “What’s Tinkerbell doing?”  She knows the names of all the fairies, and even likes Vidia, the bad-tempered fairy.  I think Silvermist might be her favorite besides Tinkerbell.

She wanted to be tucked in with Tink right away =)

Beauty and the Beast: This one is her newest favorite.  We’ve watched it for the last month or two.  She loves the part where Papa is riding a horsey, when the sheep eat Belle’s book, and especially when Belle and Beast are dancing.  She has started dancing with her stuffed animals, spinning in circles singing “Tale da da da da Time, Song to make it Rhyme, Beauty and the Beast!!!”  She also really likes the “baby cup.”  She wants to wear yellow dresses just like Belle and dance!

Birthday DVD: We made a dvd for her first birthday with friends and family reading books.  Dad later added some scholastic shows (The Wheels on the Bus, Dem Bones, and In the Meadow) and a musical kids show called Sharon, Lois and Bram.  They sing their way through the alphabet.  She still loves this movie, and will often watch it at my Dad’s if she’s wishing Mama or Daddy was there.

Aladdin: We watched Aladdin several times at Gavin and Jennie’s, mostly because Mama forgot to pack her other dvds.  She really likes the music, especially A Whole New World.  She’d ignore most of the movie and run over when the singing started.

Mamma Mia: She doesn’t actually watch the whole movie, but she LOVES the music!  We started watching Abba in California, and she kept asking for more, more more!  She especially loves Honey Honey and Money Money Money.

Here she is dancing just like Belle from Beauty and the Beast. She does this nearly every day just now, and most of her stuffed animals and dolls have gotten a turn =)

=) She dipped her too, that's more like how Mama dances though =)

She loves having a "spelling wand" just like Princess Presto
