Hi.

Welcome!

Activities: Park, pbskids.org, Gardening, Building

Park: Serenity, Eric and I go to the park every Tuesday that the weather is nice.  Serenity has gotten very adept at climbing up stairs and ladders!  She loves sliding the most now.  We also like walking around the cement circle that surrounds the playground, and picking up trash and throwing it away.  She is completely fearless which makes Mama a little fearful, but even I have to admit that she has gotten so steady in the last few months that she rarely falls, although I still spot her for the occasional misstep on ladders.  I am amazed that she can climb up rope ladders already!  It’s funny, she often acts out a scene from one of her SuperWhy videos where Pig is afraid of going down the slide.  She’ll sit at the top and say “I’m AFRAID!”  And then either I will cheer or she will cheer “you can do it Pig, you can DO IT!”  And down she’ll slide.  She’s expanded it lately to even talk about Red going down the slide, and then Princess Pea, and then SuperWhy says “Your turn Pig.”  This dialogue obviously fascinates her, and she’s so cute and dramatic when she acts it out!  She loves to play these games on the spectacular castle her Papa built in one of his rooms.  She pretends she's talking to Rapunzel, or taking turns sliding with the Super Readers! At our Tuesday Picnic =)

Sliding on the play structure Dad built =) It has swings, a climbing wall, ladder and slide so far.

Sliding with Henry!!!

pbskids.org: Going along with her SuperWhy addiction is the love of pbskids.org.  I wanted to let her get started playing on the computer a little, and she loves it.  She can’t really use the mouse yet but she certainly knows all the answers to the Alpha Pig games and Princess Presto’s Spelling games.  She especially likes the Spelling Bee (where we printed a crown that she wore for months!), create your own SuperHero, any Bingo, and Alpha Pig’s Match Up.

Giving Plants a Drink:  The watering hose is great fun!  Serenity and I usually have to have a discussion when it’s Mama’s turn to water things.  So things may be unevenly watered, but it’s worth it to see her get so excited about them. She even names them as she's watering, "I water the peach trees, I water the iris!" We managed to grow strawberries and peaches so far this year, and she loved getting to eat things out of the garden!  And when I planted new flowers she got out her own shovel and helped Mama dig in the dirt!  She also enjoys “spreading the mulch” which means after we put it down she picks it back up and moves it =)

She's drenched!

Helping Mama dig... Mama's shovel is cooler than Serenity's... so we often switch =)

Building (towers, blocks, legos):  This was an early favorite this year.  She has alphabet block books that made great towers, and she loves to stack wood scraps that Dad has laying around.  She got alphabet blocks for Christmas and that combined two favorites, letters and building.  She would say “stack em!”  We also got her foam blocks that we used to make cities in the windowsill, and legos that she likes to make towers with as well.  I love that she would stack all the alphabet blocks in stacks by letters, and she would match the colors of the legos.  So cute!!
