Donovan loves school! His teacher tells us that he’s everyone’s friend, and he is very well behaved. He has never lost a clip, and he even gave me advice on how best to do that. He told me “The secret to never losing a clip, is to always PRETEND you are on red. Then you stop and think before you do stuff so you don’t lose any clips.” His teacher was amazed and told us he came up with that on his own. He gets to get special reading lessons with Mrs. Duncan, as they want him to be challenged. He already recognizes 51 out of 100 sight words, and she said they don’t even expect them to know them all by the end of the year. He tells me he particularly likes Spanish. He gets to do aftercare quite a bit this year, since Eric is coaching Serenity’s class in chess every Thursday. He’s thrilled about that too. He plays a lot with Jade this year, but he tells me stories about lots of kids. It’s nice to get so much information! =)
Donovan’s class did an apple experiment. They gave them each a sample of four different apples, and the kids recorded how crunchy they were, tart or sweet, and whether they liked them. He liked this so much we went to reasors and bought every apple flavor they had. Donovan decided his favorite are Jonathan apples, and he likes tart apples! It was fun!
I got to have a couple dates with DZ in October. We went fabric shopping for his Vulpix Costume! He asks me to sew a lot so he was so excited to help with his costume! He picked the fabric for his costume and helped me find Vulpix fleece while we were there. And he stuffed his tail all by himself, and decided when it was ready. We went another day to get his hair cut at Mr. Will’s. That turned into a really fun afternoon, as we discovered Mr. Will has an air hockey table! We played for a looong time, until another kid came to the back room and looked longingly at the table, and then he played with Donovan. Donovan is excited about getting his hair cut now =)
