7/11/16 I am so behind on website updating! But at least I’m still journaling =) I will get caught up on posting eventually.
June was a fun month for Serenity! She got to go to two camps at Camp Incredible. She loved them so much she didn’t want to miss even a minute. Her first week was American Girl Doll camp. Her doll, formerly McKenna, renamed Maria during camp, got to go with her every day, plus Maria’s pet cat, Honey. Mrs. Ritchie, her teacher from first grade, led the camp and she had so many fun activities planned! The girls made dresses and hats for their dolls. She had pajama day, which thrilled Serenity as we had just discovered pjs in the hand me down clothes from Raegan that match Maria’s pajamas. It was perfect timing! They had pink day, island day, and Paris day. They had yummy snacks that perfectly suited each days theme. Her other camp was also by Mrs. Ritchie, Nature Ninjas. Perfect for my nature girl =)
Serenity has started piano lessons this month. She’s only had two lessons actually, since one week she didn’t want to miss camp, and another week was a holiday. But she is practicing a few minutes nearly every day, and she claims to love it! It’s lovely hearing music in the house. I’m not reminding her to practice very often, so she mostly does it on her own.
Serenity had such a great time in Florida. She adored boogie boarding in the ocean. =) She loved building Captain America at build and grow, and could pretty much do it on her own. I held a couple boards together while she nailed them for the base, but other than that she didn’t need me.
Serenity finished her summer reading program =) It took her longer because she read mostly chapter books. Since she was reading such long books, I relaxed my usual rule of only counting library books and let her write down the books we bought at the summer book fair too. I like the books she’s reading a lot, I’ve been reading them after she’s done. We especially enjoyed the Dragon Slippers series, by Jessica Day George. She still loves Rainbow Magic fairies, but they take her less than an hour to read now.
