I haven't written DZ's birthday update yet, but since I don't want to fall further behind, here's the post I wrote for May. I have a shiny new computer so sorting pictures is much more fun! 5/22
Donovan LOVES having Vana ema and Far Far here. He has gotten to play board games every single day, including a few new ones that they bought for his birthday. He got the train game (the one with train robbers the Richards introduced him to.) And he's played Legendary, an awesome Marvel game Eric just got. He also played Uno with Vana ema, and some Mexican Train the night Grandma came over.
Donovan did a great job hiking through the woods. He climbed every rock Serenity did, and once I told him he was stressing me out (this was after he was dangling on a rock by his hands. It was a 45 degree angle so it was probably ok, but if he slid down it he would have gone a LONG way down.) After this, whenever he climbed a rock he asked "Is this distressing you Mama" He is such a cutie.
He adored the medieval fair. He went dressed as a night, and we did not lose him this time. I was really glad Ann and John were there. He especially loved the jousting, and watching the sword fights during the live chess match. He also got a black stone (which he was told was the black plague, but he liked it too much to try and get cured.) He just thought it was awesome. And he got a bell to make the fairies feel happy. We watched a lot of the shows this year, so it was very different from last years visit. So much fun! John had made an itinerary for us so we got to see several exciting exhibitions. The birds of prey were beautiful and the trainer had them fly through peoples arms. Truly impressive. And we saw jousting, and a live chess match. The kids got snow cones, ice cream, and kettle corn. They also shared a turkey leg and corn on the cob, and I got an Indian Taco, and John shared his chicken fried steak sandwich, so we got to sample a lot of delicious fair food!
Donovan's end of the year performance was done in USOLA, the new outdoor space at USchool. They were adorable, of course. They sang several animal-related songs. At one point they were given little bandanas to wave around. When they were done, they were supposed to stick it in their pockets... well Donovan put the entire bandana all the way down his pants. Ashley and I were cracking up. He did a great job singing and doing the motions! =)
