Maia is 18 months old!!! She's turning into a bit of a daredevil. She climbs into the windowsill over our bed and jumps! Over and over and over. She will say "Boinga boinga crash!" On the other hand, she doesn't want to climb up past the first section of the tape tunnel at the discover lab. She's happy to go up one level and slide down over and over. She loves it there and protests wildly when it's time to go.
She still adores books. I don't know if it is just that she's a December baby, but a lot of her favorites seem to be Christmas books. She loves Frosty the snowman, and several books about reindeer. Normally I would have set those up on a higher shelf by now, but she loves them so much it's Christmas year-round here. Not that I protest much =) We also read a lot of Biscuit, Dotty, and the I Can Read Dora and Backyardigans books.
She found a length of ruffle fabric I used for the Teacher Appreciation breakfast. She wraps it around herself and says "pretty." It's adorable. =) She also discovered necklaces and bracelets, and adorns herself with those. Randomly, she has asked me to put diaper covers on her several times, declaring them pretty as well. We almost never use those so it's hilarious when she asks for them.
She loves to stack things. Papa got her a gift card to Kiddlestix and we used it for a set of stacking cups, which she loves. She also spent hours stacking the orange cones we bought for DZ's paw patrol party. She'll stack them up, scatter them, giggle, and babble at them. Every now and again you'll hear a real word in her babble, which just makes you intensely curious what she's talking about!
She is talking more clearly every day, thank goodness =) She has some fun quirks. She says "PU! PU!" instead of up. While patting your leg and giving you a look that makes it absolutely clear what she means. She does the same for cup.
She asks for shows now. Actually, she usually says, "show back?" She loves the Backyardigans, and can say all their names. She's sleeping with all the little plush backyardigans we collected and got from Carson and Raegan right now. She has five Backyardigans and two deer. Some nights she tosses them overboard one by one, but lately at least a few stay in with her until morning!
