December 10th: Papa's Party! And a Scavenger Hunt
Dad took off work today so he could babysit Donovan and Maia, so we decided to celebrate his birthday a day early. We had breakfast together, and after I took Serenity to school I finished up some Christmas shopping. DZ was a little croupy though, so instead of taking Maia home for her nap so I could get some sewing done, we took it easy and snuggled up at Papa's all day with Paw Patrol and swing time. DZ felt better by the afternoon and played a little Rummikub with Papa. We gave Papa his presents, a puzzle of Mont St. Michel, a Spanish game and French bananagrams. Then we got to have burritos with Rosario, which made DZ very happy! And Maia got her first burrito from Rosario. Yum!
After we got home, we found the advent activity Eric had set up for us after we left for Dad's. He'd hidden all the pieces of our nativity set and some candy canes around the house! This year, instead of buying candy canes that my kids won't eat, I just bought some filled with M&Ms and Jelly beans which they loved. Eric did a really good job of hiding things! I had fun looking too! One candy cane was actually hanging on the advent calendar, I can't believe we didn't find it until last!!!
On the drive home from Papa's, Donovan said, "I feel happy Mama! See, I'm smiling so big!!" I said, "That's great DZ, why are you happy?" And he said, "I just love everyone." So sweet! Also, when I told him I got him a new pair of soft warm pants, he said, "Awwww, that's so nice!" In just the cutest voice =)
