July was so busy with Serenity's birthday and visiting Cali that I didn't notice I'd fallen behind on my posting! So here's Donovan's journal from July and the first of August =)

"Buh-member" When DZ tries to say remember it sounds more like "buh-member?" It's soo cute. And I like that he says it a lot because he has a lot he wants us to remember =)
Our visit to California this time could be summarized as swimming and legos. We had lots of other fun times too, but these things happened nearly every day! Donovan is getting so good at swimming! John got me an amazing set of legos for my birthday, the Lego Architecture Set. He had also pulled out all the legos from when Eric and Tina were kids, and we had a blast all week making crazy things like elephant cars and batmobiles. Donovan kept asking John to make batmobiles, that John bought him his first big kids lego set, a batmobile of course.
Donovan has done so much dressing up since Papa built the excellent cabinet for my birthday. I sorted all the dress up accessories. He even coordinates his clothes. Say, if he's going to be a lion, he'll go find a yellow shirt before he puts on the lion mask, hat and tail. He dresses all in blue as Nightcrawler or he'll wear blue and his puppy ears and police hat to be Chase from Paw Patrol. I love it!! Today he wore his knight costume as the girls dressed up in princess costumes and he protected them. He's just as likely to find a princess costume of his own and join in that way. He often dresses up as an animal so he can pretend to be a pet and you are the owner.
Donovan is so excited about starting school! He asked me when we took Serenity to school last year "where's my locker? Where's my teacher?": Well now he has them and he couldn't be happier. He got a letter in the mail from Ms. Parent that said she hoped he had a good summer, and he held it close and said, "I LOVE Ms. Parent!" So cute =) We hosted a play date for his class last week so the kids could have a chance to meet before the first day of school. It was so much fun! There are more boys than girls in DZ's class, which is funny because it's the opposite in Serenity's class. For a little craft they decorated containers I found to hold their erasers. I'm still congratulating myself on that idea ;)
