February was a great month! It should really have 30 days though, then this post would be on time =)

"I'm going in the kitchen for a minute Mama, watch out for the baby while I'm gone."
Vanaema came for a visit in February. We were all excited to have her! She got Serenity a wonderful new board game and played it with her at least a dozen times, whenever Serenity asked her to. =) She also got to do a science experiment with Ann. So special to get to do science with a real scientist!!!

Serenity's school Valentine party this year was a Super Valentine's Day! We did a superhero theme. I made capes out of the fleece stash that was overflowing my closet, and sewed muslin to the back so the kids could color and decorate their capes. I made a photo booth so they could pretend to fly through the sky and save the school. =) They colored superhero cutouts, and enjoyed delicious cupcakes. Simple and fun! And several Moms have told me their kids are still using their capes! Yay!!!

Some fun things about Serenity right now: Serenity loves patterns. When we play dominion, she always organizes her cards in symmetric patterns. Like: Action card, gold, action card, gold, action card. And when she uses a card, she reorganizes the rest of her cards to make them as symmetrical as possible. I noticed her doing the same thing with apple slices the other day. She had two slices shaped like big circles, and two wedge shaped pieces. She ate a wedge, and then reorganized her pieces so they were circle, wedge, circle. She also spends a lot of time on intricate sticker creations, and she loves it when she can do it symmetrically.
Her latest reading fascination is about space. We got the National Geographic Big Book of Space from the last book fair, and she got the Encyclopedia of Space from Aunt Tina and Uncle Colen. She's read them both repeatedly, and she now knows more about space than I do. She knows the names of all the dwarf planets, and I'm still not over the fact that they demoted Pluto to dwarf planet status. =)
The other day Eric and Serenity were trying to figure something out. Serenity said, "Let's ask Mama, she's clever." =) I'm glad she thinks so!
She's having a little fun with her wardrobe lately. She chose to wear a pink croc and a purple croc the other day. Gone are the days when she had to wear the same color from head to toe =)
She has a favorite song now. We are addicted to the Frozen Soundtrack, like most of America I think. =) She asks for the Elsa song in the car every day. She dances beautifully to the music when we play it at home. It involves lots of jumping twirls and spins. It actually looked a lot like some modern dances that I used to watch on So You Think You Can Dance. =) Moving with the music. =)
She is in love with her little sister. We were going out to dinner with Rosario and she announced, "We MUST show off the baby." And when we got there, "This is Maia Marie. She's new."
Serenity loves playing with Donovan. She pretends to be his teacher and plans all kinds of activities for them. They usually do this in the Ocean Room upstairs where I put her play school set from a few years ago and a selection of her school papers that were especially fun. Today they made a sticker graph. DZ was very proud to show it off. =) Another new game they've been playing lately is Cheetah Charge. That's about all there is to it, wearing cat ears or the mask I made for DZ's birthday and running as fast as they can around the house. It's so nice to see them playing, especially as there were a couple of weeks this month that one or the other of them was sick and miserable and not in the mood to play.
