Jen and I planned a fun birthday weekend for Mom's 70th Birthday! We started off with a dinner and movie night. We saw Admission, a fun movie, and enjoyed Mexican food at Chuy's. The food was good, but they spilled a whole tray of drinks on J and Tiffany. At least they got shirts out of it! Eric, meanwhile, was babysitting ALL THE CHILDREN!! They had so much fun together. Brayden and Serenity declared themselves "Best Cousins." Even Braley was in town from Texas to join the fun!
Saturday morning we went to Pinot's Palette to make a painting together! This was SUCH fun! We are all talking about doing it again already. I was so glad everyone enjoyed it, even the kids! And Raegan made such a cool painting!
Lunch was supposed to be a picnic in the park, but due to a little rain we held a carpet picnic at Mom's house. It cleared up enough for us to play the backyard games we had planned, like croquet and cornhole toss. Jennifer went crazy over the food, as usual. I'm not sure we can allow her to feed us two meals in a row again, as we were all ready to explode! She made three desserts in jelly jars for this meal, strawberry shortcake, lemon coconut cake, and german chocolate cake. And I had to try them all of course! And this was after the best salad I've ever eaten. No joke. She sent out the recipe though and I just laughed. It had like ten steps. I'll have to wait until she takes pity on me and makes it again. =) My contribution was the picnic blanket edged in gingham, and the banners. Mom loved them, and we've saved them for future fun.
Dinner was at Jen's house. Delicious barbecue, and more insanely good desserts. chocolate sheet cake, Jen's amazing cheesecake, and peach cobbler! I had to stop after cobbler and a little cheesecake. Oh my goodness. I used muslin tablecloths with burlap runners, little flower arrangements in jelly jars, and my banners again. Oh, and I printed huge family pictures at staples and hung them up as well. And I made shirts for the grandkids, which led to some cute photos =)
Our whole family had a blast. I just love when we can all get together, and having the party over the whole weekend meant everyone made it for a little bit at least.
