School has started again for Serenity! We had a back to school party so she could meet some of her new classmates and visit with her old friends as well. It was a bubble party! I made about eight gallons of bubble mix. We had bubble mix in a kiddie pool with a hula hoop so the kids could be inside of a bubble. We used water bottles and socks to make bubble snakes. We did bubble art which was a huge fun mess, and we made a card for their teachers with the results. It was so much fun, and so great to get to meet some new friends! I am so excited for U-School. I just love the community there.
Serenity woke up the morning of school absolutely thrilled to be going back to school! She never really understood the need for summer break. =) She had her outfit all chosen and hanging on her doorknob, (the tomorrow knob she tells me). She is going different days this year so she has several new specialties. She gets to do computers, Chinese, art, and math, among a few other things. It's so interesting to see how much has changed in a year already! She can write her whole name (and can almost fit it across a single piece of paper...) She's still mastering it of course but it's legible =) And her coloring is so much better! Last year she'd scribble a colored pencil across the paper a few times and want to be done. The first paper she brought home this year she actually colored the pictures on the paper! Almost in the lines =) And with different colors! She's showing so much more focus already. I'm excited, I love to color! She's always had a lot more interest in painting or stickers than using crayons or pencils, so this is going to be fun.

Wow, another month flew by! I never got journaling up for Serenity in August, and now it's nearly time for September!
Serenity adores school. This year I get to hear even more about what she's doing every day, which is just thrilling. She has several new subjects, including math, computers, Chinese and art. The Chinese is a challenge because I can't possibly tell what she's saying. But she's excited! She likes all her new classmates and tells me she plays with all the girls and some of the boys. She sings her Egyptian Song, but this year she knows all the words and the motions too!
Usually she gets erasers, which means that she cooperates with what the teacher asks her. Occasionally she doesn't, once because she told a boy next to her in line to "SCOOT!" because she wanted a girl in front of her and one boy behind her. She also lost a letter yesterday because of something to do with standing in line at the water fountain and Lorelei... possibly Lorelei was in front of her in line, and she has serious issues with needing to be first these days.
This is what Serenity said when I asked her if she wanted to add anything to the post about school.
"At school I don't complain and I listen to the rules!
I like school! A lot! I like school a really really lot!.
I LOVE the work that I do.
At lunch time I just use my manners to the teachers and they open them for me if I can't do it. And I also, if I go to the shelf work I don't complain.
I like my friends and my teachers. I like doing work with Ms. Parent. Ms. Parent sometimes does finding words and sharing words on the cards. Because I love reading special books with her very much. "
