Scrapbooking!
I have gotten a whole lot of scrapbooking done this year! It's kind of crazy how many different projects I've started. If you want to take a peek at a few of my favorite layouts, they are below. I scrapbooked at least twice a week at my sister Jen's house. She made as many pages as I did, but they all have one subject, her adorable baby =)
It took me almost six months and a great deal of procrastinating to finally finish my wedding and honeymoon album. It was worth it though, it was hard to choose just a few favorites from this book. I love the bridesmaids dress page because I cut out little dresses in the pattern each girl chose. "Take That Tree" is fun because I got to freehand all those leaves. Plus it's a funny memory of our wedding activities. The other two are just fun layouts. I especially love the little petals on the ceremony page, because Alli and KaLynn gave them to me to hold as I walked down the aisle. The last is from the dressy dinner on our cruise.
Another project I'd been trying to finish for a while was moving all my high school pictures from the sticky albums that yellow and destroy your pictures to the nice Creative Memories books that I'm addicted to. I finished that too! I love this page because of the title. I drew a road map of texas in the letters. Plus it's the first time I managed to use the tearing technique successfully
After that I was motivated to sort through the mountains of pictures from when I was a baby through middle school. My dad is a major picture fanatic so there were tons. I picked some of the best, and got them put in a book too. This was one thing Dad and I enjoyed doing together. He helped me with some of the journaling, and sorted through all his pictures. I haven't done all the journaling for this one yet, but at least they aren't in a box anymore. This page I did at my first all night crop with my sister Jen. She suggested the perfect title, Miss Chris.
I also decided to make a scrapbook for my friend Andrea. She has a complex about her scrapbooking abilities, which means she never actually finished her pages, so I am doing them for her. It is actually really easy to make scrapbooks for other people, because I don't have to do any journaling, and I can just copy my own layouts instead of trying to be original all the time, since she doesn't have any layouts like them. I did do some original pages for her though, like this kite one.
I am still keeping my own book fairly up to date, although it's time to catch up again. This page is from Mimi's 85th birthday. I like it because I had tried at least three times to use that Our Family title and failed, and then I came up with copying the ivy pattern, and I love how it turned out!
And finally, as if that wasn't enough, I started a circle scrapbook with my friends Aisha, Doris and Andrea. The basic idea of a circle scrapbook is that I make four layouts, one for each of us, and then mail it around for each girl to fill out. I was really happy that they all liked the idea, although Doris and Aisha are so busy with medical school that we will probably only do a couple of pages a year. The first page was a list of favorites, like movies, games, etc. The next one will be about our favorite places.
