Serenity is 8 months old today! We celebrated by taking a whole bunch of new pictures, including a new family picture =) It was a lot of fun, and Serenity was happy because it meant she got to walk all over the park again. Below are the new pictures plus some stories from her baby book! Click on the link to see it!
2/26 Serenity took her first steps! It’s incredible how fast she’s learning new things. She’s been cruising along the couch for several weeks now, and getting steadier every day. Today she was barely touching the couch with one hand, and after standing balanced for a while, she let go of the couch and took three steps toward my camera! Step, step, step, dive! She was so determined to get the camera, it’s adorable. They were wobbly, but definite steps. Serenity is just so brave! She never seems to worry about falling. And she doesn’t often care if she does fall, unless she hits her head. If she falls on her bottom she just wants right back up. She took several walking steps between me and Eric. She’s still talking up a storm. She says “ga!” the most often. Almost always with an exclamation point. She’s also learned the fun of screaming. The funniest screams are when she does these little ay! ay! ay! ay! sounds. Just short little bursts of sound over and over. Too funny! I’ve been trying to get them on tape for days, hopefully I succeed! She also will say her boof and today said pa! She also gargles on the extremely excessive spit she has had lately, and makes her dove cooing noises. She’s getting in two new teeth on the bottom! Also possibly some on the top, but it’s very hard to see in there. I think I drive Eric crazy by giving him constant teeth updates. He thinks it’s funny, but for some reason I just have to know if teeth are actually coming in, and where, and when. I can see both teeth clearly now so hopefully they are through for good! She’s started rolling onto her tummy a lot! She does it during diaper time, which makes it very challenging. She also does it in her crib some. She goes to her tummy a lot lately. I think she’s still trying to figure out crawling, because she even goes to her tummy voluntarily when we set her down to play with toys. She usually starts complaining eventually about being on her tummy because she stuck there. She can go backwards, and in circles, but still not forwards. Our favorite game right now is hide and seek! Either Eric or I will go into some other room in the house, and start saying, “Where’s Mama?” or “Where’s Dada?” The other person will walk Serenity around the house till she finds us. She gets the biggest smile on her face when she does! It’s so cute. And sometimes she does a little happy dance, stepping in place. She loves to walk holding onto fingers now, and will do it until she’s completely exhausted. And beyond. She can walk very fast now, which we discovered one day when I turned on water for a bath. She zoomed down the hallway to the bathroom! She just loves bathtime, and all her new bath toys. Especially the dragonfly and her rubber duckies. She sticks the entire duck’s head in her mouth. too funny!
3/8 The last few days were really momentous! Serenity took her first few steps around the first of March! She went right for the camera =) Last night she was taking several steps between me and Ann, and standing independently and well balanced too! She’s just amazing!
The most amazing thing last night was bedtime though. She pulled to standing in her crib! With her Woombie ON! We had to take her out and lower the crib. And then she fell asleep all by herself and slept the whole night in her crib. Well, she got out to eat once and once to change a poopy diaper, but she went back to sleep on her own both times with minimal crying. About an hour of talking, but I’ll take it.
