Hi.

Welcome!

Serenity is One Month Old!

Serenity has changed so much in the last two weeks!  It’s hard to believe she’s a month old already, it really does fly by!  She recognizes me and Eric already.  She turns her head when she hears our voices!  Today I called Eric and then put him on the phone, and when he said hi to Serenity she smiled!  It was so cute!!!  And she looks at things so intently now.  She really loves her mobile, she smiles at it and coos.  She talks a lot of the time actually.  When she’s awake she makes little sounds all the time, like she’s trying to tell us all kinds of stories =)

My Dad came for a visit at the end of July.  He fell instantly in love with the baby.  He thinks she looks like me =)  Most people here think she looks like Eric.  We’ve looked at the baby pictures, and all I think it proved is that Eric and I could have been cousins =)  She just looks like Serenity to me, although I think she does have Eric’s ears.  Alex also came by!  It was a big surprise, he called one morning and asked for directions to the Bart!  =)  I didn't even know he was planning a roadtrip!  He was very cute with Serenity... he asked for instructions on how to hold her.  I told him to sit and he held her very carefully with his elbow sticking straight out... I told him it was ok to relax when his arm felt like it was going to fall off =)

After Dad left, the Wainright clan came to town to celebrate Tina’s Graduation and to meet Serenity.  It’s been so much fun to visit with all of them!  We’ve played lots of croquet and board games =)  Ann loves to hold the baby and she’s been speaking Swedish to her.  It makes me want a Swedish dictionary though, I wanna know what she’s saying =) On Saturday, when Eric and I first got there, Eric gave the baby to John.  He sang the alphabet song to her and said she liked the letter L =)  After Ann stole the baby away, he looked at us and said he’d forgotten how much fun babies are =)

Serenity is such a good baby.  She almost never cries unless she’s hungry. She makes complaining noises sometimes about hiccups and stuff like that, but it doesn’t last long.   Although, she HATES the car!  She never falls asleep in it.  She might stay asleep if she’s asleep when we start, but otherwise she stays awake!  Sometimes she just talks, but if the ride goes on too long, she wails!  I’ve never known a baby that didn’t like the car, it’s interesting!

I spend as much time as possible snuggling with her when we’re home =) Between her nighttime feedings, I sleep with her in my wonderful recliner.  It’s very cozy =)  She has grown a lot!  I went to maternal connections to weigh her at one month, and she’s up to 8lbs, 15.7oz!  That’s up from 7lbs 7oz at two weeks!  She’s a really good eater.  And she eats a lot between ten and twelve, and then sleeps for four hours or so!  Then she’ll eat a little, and have another long nap!  She’s just such a nice baby =)  Oh!  And she loves tummy time!  That’s good, because Eric is so jazzed by tummy time.  They do it every day =)  She lifts her head really well! We've also been reading stories to her =)  Dad read to her in Spanish!  I've read her the Paper Bag Princess...  Then Eric read it to her and told her the dragon was the hero... =)

She has now worn all her newborn size clothing at least once!  Thanks to everyone who made onesies or bought clothes for her!  I'll take more pictures when she goes up a size, but I have to share a couple of these now =)  I love the "Future Hufflepuff" sleeper Tina made!

Here are pictures of her from the last week so you can see how big she is!  She went to watch Daddy play softball on Saturday, and she stole a few of the players away to cuddle with =)

We are SO happy!  Sometimes we’re just hanging out on the couch and Eric and I will stare at her and marvel over how cute and sweet she is =)  We are a very lucky family!
