Road Trip to Tennessee, Kentucky, and Indiana! Day 1
Road trip! Eric’s big deadline passed, so we can finally start making plans again! The kids are interested in going to different states, so we printed a map and marked where they had already been, and decided we could drive to Tennessee and Kentucky! (They get this urge from Jess Bair who took Jason and me to all 50 states!)
We started early yesterday, picking up Papa at 6! Our first stop was McDonalds, as per road trip tradition. We made it to Memphis around noon, and we explored the Metal Museum, took a riverboat ride down the Mississippi, and checked into our hotel on Beale Street! Eric and I went out for barbecue (alone! A date?!? 😂) and then we grabbed the kids to run to an old fashioned soda shop and to meander down Beale street, which already had music going! Sera, Eric and I ended the night walking across the river to the state line and we saw the bridge light up with the Mighty Lights display! So beautiful, and with a nice breeze such a pleasant walk!
Brunch at McD’s! Pancakes and chicken biscuits 😋
I love going to museums with Sera! She so appreciates all the displays! There was some truly crazy jewelry 🤩
Island Queen! It’s a pretty hot day so I appreciated the air conditioning option of the boat. We could go up too for the view and retreat when needed 😜 Thanks for the hat suggestion Jen!
There was a cute city park on the walk to the riverboat that had dragon eggs and this giant nest!
Eric couldn’t believe I was taking pictures of our food… even if it was world class Memphis barbecue 😂😂😂. I told him I was recording us out on a date alone 😜
This reminded me of the light bridge at Rhema. So happy Sera had enough energy and wanted to go out at night!
Big River Crossing! Such a nice cool evening.
