December 2022 Day 4.5: Mickey's Christmas Party!
Wow. We got on the monorail at 12:02 AM. I cannot believe we made it. 😂😂😂. The Christmas Party was amazing, and may well have spoiled me for daytime theme parks 😜 short lines, space to watch shows and parades… seriously a blast.
This is from outside our hotel. Also a cool pokestop =)
After a long afternoon rest (sleep in Eric’s case, not gonna lie, jealous) we walked to the Magic Kingdom around 6pm. We started at Buzz Lightyear, because Sera and DZ liked it so much when we went the first time, and there were several rides in Tomorrowland I suspected Maia might like. We were nearly immediately on the ride, and it is fun!!! I got nearly 945,000 points, but I’m pretty sure it gave me DZs hits too 😂. She liked it, but it was kinda tame for her.
We did the Holiday Speedway next, and Donovan declared himself an excellent driver. He drove me and everyone else drove themselves.
This was the most enthusiastic Christmas Light drive I’ve ever been on 😂
Seven years till this terror becomes reality 😂😂😂
Then… Eric offered Space Mountain. Maia and DZ said YES, Sera and I were NOPE. We got her some dinner and danced in club Tinsel, took a magic picture, and got hot cocoa and cookies! Then we heard music and realized we were right by Mickey’s show at the castle! We walked across the bridge and had a blast listening to music and seeing the Disney characters dance!
Eric asked Sera her top three favorite things from the weekend and in no particular order:
Being together as a family and taking fun pictures, interactive wands, and Joy, her plush Phoenix, all the new plushies really. 🥰🥰🥰. Favorite float: Wandering Oaken/Elsa.
Donovan and Maia were really excited about rides! And halfway through the line, Eric realized he was… not 😂. He wanted them to get to experience it though, and with an under 30 minute wait… well, the kids LOVED it! And Eric agreed to take them again at the end of the day! They also rose the Astro Orbiter, which was Maia’s second favorite after Space Mountain (which was holiday themed btw.)
Space Mountain time!
After their first two rides, Eric’s group made it to Main Street to get a spot for the parade. Sera and I tried to join them… and I led her on a merry chase through Fantasyland to the far side of the castle and Liberty Square before we found unblocked paths.
The parade was awesome! I especially loved Olaf and Elsa’s floats, the dancing Bambi reindeer, and all the princesses! And it snowed! The kids were less than impressed, they kept getting it in their eyes trying to look up to the parade.
Olaf’s float house is sooo pretty. Especially the window box arrangements.
Goofy’s float actually was scented. Really strong candy smell, amazing!
I love all the decorations!
Belle in her Christmas dress 😍
I just love Bambi reindeer 🥰
I think she’s showing the penny she found to Anna.
Dancing down Main Street!
DZ was in serious need of real food, but he didn’t like our first attempt at a bakery, so the rest of us ate our treats and tried to convince him to accept food. Eric wanted a cinnamon roll Mickey, and I got a fancy Christmas ornament treat, which was almond cake with a dome of gingerbread ice cream. Yummy surprise!
Then we went to cosmic Ray’s, and Sera got some cookies for everyone. Eric and Sera saw Minnie’s Fireworks. Then, Maia and DZ wanted another round of rides, so Sera and I planned to watch, and then make it back to Tomorrowland for Stitch’s Christmas show. Maia and DZ had seen bits from their first ride, but they made it in time to see most of it! So many talented people at Disney!
The kids love stitch! DZ even said he needed to see his movies 😮😂 And he picked a Stitch Mister as his souvenir.
After the Tomorrowland Christmas Special we did a little shopping. Maia found something perfect, but DZ wanted to try Main Street for something he loved. We couldn’t cross to it through, because the parade came again! This time we had an even better view 🤩. I love it so much! DZ found the perfect Stitch themed mister bottle, and we were all content and ready to go! I even found the commemorative ornament we were supposed to pick up on arrival. One of the check out people had extras! We are all seriously SO lucky! We rode the wrong monorail at first in a bit circle, but now we’re home and mostly packed for a very early departure 🤦♀️. Today was so worth it though! 🥰🥰🥰 I love my family! They kept declaring it the best surprise trip ever 🥰
I found a set of finger lights on a Mickey hand that I used for the advent calendar, to let them know they were invited to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. Bonus, the finger lights were a great help on the walk and for reading maps in the dark, and fun for flashlight tag while waiting on the elevator 😜
Winky got a lanyard too.
