Donovan's 12th Birthday Update!
Donovan is 12 years old! It’s amazing and wonderful and I am so lucky to be his Mama! I’m going to dive right into pictures to try to describe how awesome he is.
Donovan’s 11th birthday was taco themed. We were in Mexico on his actual birthday, and his favorite food is Mexican so it seemed appropriate! He got taco squishmallows and avocado squishes, plus a silly day of fun with his bff Hatcher.

Riding a dolphin was an amazing memory of our first international trip for Fantastico! Donovan especially loved getting to play games all hours of the day and night, fruity beverages, and his “posse” of boys his age, CJ, Evan, and Everett. They sat together at tables in the restaurants and LOVED it. He chose the hibachi place on his birthday.
Evan and Daphne stayed with us after Mexico, and he and DZ went to a Sphero coding camp. DZ’s spiky robot creation popped the most balloons!
July 2022 DZ still loves playing FAB! Flesh and Blood, a competitive strategy card game.
Cali Trip 2022. DZ loved kayaking! And all the games!
DZ is in 5th grade! August 2022
Donovan loves the dog Finn way more than he anticipated. He talks to him in the cutest baby voice and loves on him.
August 2022. Donovan LOVES reading! He often gets lost in a series of books and stays up late reading. He especially loves looooong fantasy series like Ranger’s Apprentice and Percy Jackson. SO FUN! He says I’m great at picking books but it’s easy for him as he loves the same ones I do!
September 2022: The laptop DZ got for Christmas has gotten a LOT of use this year! He’s also on his second set of headphones since the puppy ate one. He especially loves playing Valorant. This is also his favorite sonic order, an oreo blast, and a hamburger with bacon only.
Fall 2022 Soccer Pic! His school pictures didn’t turn out that well but I LOVE this one from soccer! He loved playing left mid, and was still excited for Daddy to coach! The red jaguar soccer ball was a perfect find! He loves it.
October 2022: DZ wore his wolf ears from his Great Wolf Lodge birthday trip for most of 5th grade. Adorable, and even if he did get teased for it he wouldn’t let them go. Wolf Pack forever!
Chess 2022: DZ won a BIG chess trophy! He loves playing and Eric takes him most weeks to practice with the chess club. He got to go to a chess tournament in OKC with his friends Hatcher and Maysen, without us! He stayed in a hotel, and changed his own pump when it malfunctioned.
DZ is not into Halloween but he did throw on some Grogu ears to pass out candy and he got a pepperoni jack o lantern pizza!
Donovan’s Soccer Team are the Fire and Ice dragons! So when I saw this new inflatable dragon I had to go for it.
November 2022: Not content with the JOY/YOJ options, Donovan campaigned for OJY this year.
December 2022: Our family trip to Hogwarts! Donovan admitted on this trip he truly is a Hufflepuff, as I’ve always sorted him. He still loves Ravenclaw too though so he ended up with a pair of Ravenclaw socks and Hufflepuff, and he wears one of each to be a HuffleClaw.
Donovan very carefully deliberates purchases, and this Navi’i spear was soooo cool! I was glad he chose that since I’d already gotten him a new sword for Christmas =) He’s also holding his popcorn bucket, which is maybe the most useful purchase as he eats his popcorn out of it all the time now! He’s watching his favorite of the floating parade boats at the animal kingdom! He loves the cool music!
December 2022: DZ loved his new shirt! A wolf on a DND dice with a sword? It was made for him!
He was so happy when we found his wooden bow tie after organizing his room! He regularly asks to organize and we have so much fun doing it! And he was adorable in his fancy vest and bow tie for his school music show.
January 2023: Still my pokebuddy!
Archery 2023: DZ tried out Archery in between soccer seasons. He had fun, but was content with trying it once.
February 2022: Ipad in his lizard onesie. DZ’s winter plan.
Papa took DZ and H and Sera to Incredible Pizza! So much fun!
March 2023: Hatcher sleepover, and making Finn nuts when they ride the saucer swing.
April 2023: The Floor is Lava Bunnies. They loved this and worked so well together! Also, his hair is SO long. He didn’t want to cut it before school and now it’s long enough to braid halfway down his back.
May 2023: Color Run at School! The year ended so well! It was a rough start, but by now he was having some great days and great friends! Plus he signed up for band in the fall!
He got to take the group art home so I finally got to see some of his work!!!
DZ made some really cute things in art class this year! I especially love his lego self portrait! You can see the strap of his skylander backpack that he used all year, and his green fuzzy coat that he has barely taken off since I bought it for him!
Dallas FAB tournament with Daddy! He LOVES the wolf pack!
June 2022! Ted’s on his ACTUAL birthday so he can rightfully wear the sombrero! I love him so much! He is so honest and wants to do the right thing, always.
