Super Fantastico
Today was Fantastico! Eric and I planned an escape room based on Carmen Sandiego and brought it with us. And yes, we did get stopped at security so they could send the various locks and lock boxes through a second time . We divided the families up into teams and told them a mysterious archive had been recovered, but that we needed talented explorers to search around the world for the keys. We had everyone solve a puzzle that gave a hint as to what country they needed to travel to, which earned them a boarding ticket to a flight to either Italy, India, Egypt, Chile, or Japan. We had set up puzzles in five of our groups rooms to solve to find the key to the archive and a ticket back to Mexico! It went pretty well I think! Then when everyone solved their puzzles they unlocked the archive to reveal keychains Maia and I made together and hundreds of pictures from previous Fantasticos! I love this group so much!
Twenty years together! A perfect way to celebrate =)
We made welcome signs for each country they went to, and on the outer door we said welcome to your flight. So a very quick flight.
This da Vinci lock is my favorite, and also much admired by airport security ;)
We had clues inside balloons, and black light pens and notebooks for all the kids.
Each room had 2 logic puzzles, sudoku, cryptograms, riddles, a black light clue, and one special lock, like my da Vinci box or direction lock.
Mazes, and card puzzles that led to letter locks.
Map puzzle led to the four digit lock code.
One of our teams!
The teams all started with a name cross out puzzle with two typos . Sorry Gavin Palfreyman/Gabin. This told them where to go catch their flight to a new country!
We realized after everyone ran off to catch their flights that I forgot to leave the blacklight pens for the kids in each room! So I ran around since they had to have them to solve all the clues, and got some fun puzzling pics while I was at it! The kids LOVED writing messages with their blacklight pens, and Malina loved the special toddler locks I got for the littlest kids.
Paxton very enthusiastically popped the balloon
Saoirse did the maze! Sera loves helping with Saoirse. It was a challenge to try to have some puzzles that would be tough for people like Gavin, and some that the younger kids could enjoy too. But it went pretty well!
Malina and her own lock =)
Emily had the Wordoku under control.
Fantastico was all a ploy so I finally got to watch Rowan =)
There was celebratory ice cream before and after
I always say I ought to print more pictures, and I think a lot of people feel the same. So photos seemed like the perfect treasure for the archive!
Everyone took some home =)
Maia loved this shot of Daddy diving for a frisbee =)
Maia helped me make all these.
DZ and Evan found pics of themselves from their first Fantastico =)
