Hi.

Welcome!

Spring Projects

Maia and I made a new batch of corn bags! She’s learning the sewing machine.

Finally catching up to getting my Christmas cards put into books. I evidently forgot to do it in 2020 so thanks everyone that gave me clues like dates or childrens ages to figure out which section they belong in . They’re not as pretty as when I make them with Abbey but at least they’re still organized! Also, I outgrew the box so I can shop for something fun! But most of all THANK You for the cards! I keep every photo card and newsletter and special message and treasure them.

I finally fixed the potion bottles I made for my Harry Potter Christmas tree. The glitter sticks much better using a liquid polyurethane that you swirl around the inside, let the excess drain, and then fill with glitter. Much fewer gaps, and not so easy to see through. I love them! But now I need a bigger tree upstairs or to share some. =)

We had several fun rounds of clay projects! Donovan made a bunch of the Bloons TD6 monkeys, and then Maia joined in and made some too. I ran out of brown for once ;)

Rainy day means time to start a new project! It’s finally time to do something with all the baby clothes I saved. I’ve been so patient. First project in Operation Baby Clothes is done! I picked a couple special pieces, cute onesies and a dressy outfit per kid, printed photos of them wearing it, added a favorite toy, then wrapped it up in acid free tissue paper until we feel sentimental. I especially love the sock monkey sweater. All three kids wore it. It was the one thing I actually left the house to buy when Serenity was a baby. I showed the memory boxes to the kids and they loved seeing them and cooed over their cuteness. I told them whenever we had babies in the family or friends they should try on the sock monkey sweater and take pics in it too. DZ agreed completely and said he wanted to wear it today! .

One down, several to go!

The LOVE onesie we made at her shower planned by Aunt Jennie Mast Palfreyman, the pretty sleeper that had elastic on the bottom that Made Eric wonder why we had any other kinds of clothes for newborns since diaper changes were so easy, her 3rd birthday shirt from her Pete the Cat party, and the darling dress we got on our Hawaii trip that we all had matching outfits. Plus the star bunting I made for hospital newborn pics, and a taggie toy made by DZ for his baby sister. And the lace crown I made for her first birthday.

DZs Chewie hoodie, his Ziggy Zaggy tie (so named for his Dino buddy and 3rd birthday theme) the onesie I made for him to wear to Aunt Tina Wainright McAlister’s wedding, and the first of many superhero shirts. I can’t remember who gave us that onesie but we love it still!!!

Plus the green crayon that was never far from his mouth handed down by his cousins. Jen Thorp Zandbergen

Baby blanket pieced with Grandma Diane M Hale, so she could use it sooner than the giant one we started with, her bookworm onesie that was completely prophetic (Anyone remember who gave us that? I’ll have to check her journal!) one of many purple onesies that I bought her in every size, and the ruffle blue dress she wore on my first Mother’s Day, and her first birthday! Plus a tiny board book from a set we read thousands of times until she knew every letter. Papa Jess Bair even bought us a backup set, she loved them so much!

I love my organizing job! I’ve gotten to reorganize a few garages and a couple kitchens now. It’s fun having a project that is complete when I leave! Although it does sometimes inspire me to play with my organization systems at home. I reorganized my pantry! It’s not pretty enough to be magazine worthy but it’s organized enough I thought it deserved a couple cute baskets to hold chips and backup lunch snacks. The oldest item I found in the pantry was a can of cranberries that expired in 2012… which was older than most of my children. I tossed it, although I’m usually a little skeptical of expiration dates. My coworkers toss anything expired and they influenced me =) That one was pretty bad.

Egg dyeing! We didn’t get around to this last year so I decided to try a week early this year . Still so much fun! We tried a pearlescent kit, which was pretty, and shaving cream dye, which was fun but not very bright after you rinsed it. Dip dyeing was the clear winner for vibrancy and fun.
