Maia's Bake Off Birthday
Great British Baking birthday!!! The only problem with sleepovers is they start in the afternoon and we have SO LONG to wait. I finally let the birthday girl into the upstairs so she could see her very own Bake off sleepover tent! She loved it!
Inspiration photos =)
The thing Maia loves most besides baking is building. I found the cutest little cupcake lego set and put out some legos for free building.
I taped a big red X over the door so the birthday girl wouldn’t sneak in without me being there. All the crafting is totally worth it to see this sweet face!
The tent is just plain muslin fabric zip tied to the ceiling and tacked to the wall in a few places. So I can reuse it for future projects, which means I give myself bonus points and gold stars I actually found a lot of the party details in my party stash. The star banner is something that I made to put around her bassinet in the hospital the day she was born. . It was the perfect finishing touch. I love my Maia SO much!!! Found the perfect accessory for the star baker in the drawer . I think this is actually from her first birthday party!!! (Twinkle twinkle little starfish)
On Your Mark, Get Set, Bake! They start the show by saying this every week. Biscuit Week! For their signature bake, I made six batches of a cookie dough base and they added their own assortment of mix-ins to create custom cookies. We had peanut butter, Nutella, oats, raisins, craisins, chocolate chips, white chips, sea salt caramel, cinnamon chips, cherry chips, and marshmallows. The most popular ingredients were the Nutella and marshmallows. Quite a few marshmallows got dipped directly in Nutella and eaten . Turns out the recipe wildly underestimated how many cookies it made so I had enough dough left to do this party five more times Our Star Bakers made some delicious stuff!! Maia was so happy!!!
For their showstopper challenge, they used layers I prebaked and froze, and made their own delicious filling flavors with custards or jams. Maia used custard flavored with maple. She loved using the piping bags!!! The little cakes turned out adorable, and they fit perfectly in the boxes I found.
Maia loved getting a “Hollywood Handshake” for her showstopper bake! She giggled so much, it was adorable.
Instead of a technical challenge, I got a bunch of fun cookies that they have baked on the show in the past for the girls to taste. Charlie’s favorites were the madeleines and Emerson loved the quadratini. Charlie also recommends quadratini. Hazelnut. Of course. I didn’t cornered Maia and Annie long enough to hear their favorites, they were still bouncing off the walls. I think Maia liked the Stroopwaffels though!
And then they crashed and watched the inspiration show for ten minutes before they got pizza and a second wind. I fed them something besides cookies!
Maia got a Hollywood Handshake! . She thought it was hilarious when Daddy shook her hand
Huge thank you to my sister, baker and chef extraordinaire. Without her my entire house would be covered in luridly colored icing Speaking of sisters thanks for driving across town Sasha Martin to bring us the perfect serving pieces! And after you cooked and had your own event all day! It made it sooo pretty.
The yoga swing is still our best party investment ever =)
Sugar Crash ;) She loved sleeping in her tent with her siblings! And the little pillows nap pads I made to look like the baker’s tables were very comfy. I pinned that idea like a decade ago, I was so excited to finally make it!!!
