Maia loves school!  Maia says we’re eating dinosaurs for dinner. Herbivore S-Shaped neck Feathers Chicken meets the dinosaur criteria. Yay Science!

Serenity was thrilled that her class got to be in the library! They had just the right number of people to fit there without needing to be broken into two groups.

Maia asked me to read her the Ranger’s Apprentice and we’re about six chapters in! So far, she loves it and she ran to change into black so she can blend into the shadows. I asked her what she could learn from the cover and she shouted “inferring iguana.” . She said Will, the main character would probably get picked by Halt the Ranger as an apprentice and that the dark colors on the cover means Rangers are good at camouflage! I was so impressed with her reading tools! .  She is thoroughly enjoying being sneaky!

Maia asked to work on a Girl Scout journey so with some help from Grandma, who unlike me actually was a Girl Scout, she did her garden journey!!  Her Girl Scout Troop also made a scarecrow for the Tulsa Botanic Garden!  It was our only Girl Scout event of the semester, but it was an event I’d been wanting to do for years.  I posted pictures and asked the girls for suggestions in our Facebook group, and different girls volunteered to make different parts.  Maia named her Crowette.  Annie made her head, Elle made her vest, and Maia and I built the body. Oh, and the kids were studying dinosaurs at school, so we had some inspiration from archaeopteryx.  So fun!!  And it was so much fun to get to see her in person with our Girl Scout friends!  Masked of course.

Donovan loves being in person at school! He loves foursquare and football, although he often argues with friends over it. Mrs. Poleman and Mrs. Thomason tell me all the time what a great kid he is.

Donovan misses being in the same class as his friend H in school (he’s in the other pod), but he was able to have a few outdoor playdates with him!

We had more lovely creek walks with the Martins! Ava read us the beginning of the Land of Stories, and Serenity instantly needed to read the entire series. They love to wander off into a secluded area of the green belt and play with nature! They climb up vines, plant flowers, and just create!

Donovan often runs off with the boys to play frisbee golf, but this time he joined the girls in getting thoroughly soaked in the creek.

Serenity and I were having a nice talk about stress and shredding up paper while we did it, and it turned into a confetti session.

October 2020

We had some mild symptoms, but the kids took turns succumbing to whatever it was (not covid according to the test) so we had several weeks of online learning.  They definitely prefer being in the building, but I loved having the option of keeping them home when they aren’t necessarily sick, just a little run down, but not being completely absent either since they felt well enough to participate.  Even when learning from home dress up days for the Book Fair are still the best . Maia’s the cutest robot ever and Rey’s goggles are suitably futuristic. Maia has worn this dress at least once a week since she got it at our friend Abbey’s garage sale.

They got to go back to school finally and so they got to wear their Halloween costumes for Blast From the Past day at school!  I love it!  And we got lots of books from the online book fair!  Our first round of book fair books came!!!! The kids didn’t even make it past the entryway . Donovan was there too but his preferred after school outfit isn’t Facebook friendly . Oh, and friends still in the picture book stage, I LOVE this one!!!. Not Quite Snow White. So good!

Maia woke herself up one morning, got dressed, and then cleaned MY room before school. I know people will hate me but I would like to have Daylight Savings time fall back every week

We got to visit with Gavin, Jennie, Abbey and the kids! The Palfreymans were in town and Abbey drove down to meet them in our greenbelt for a day. I miss them all so much! This was wonderful!!
