Maia is Six Years Old!!!
Maia is six years old! She is just awesome. She’s hilarious, silly, brave, strong, and so interesting! I am so lucky to be her Mama. She is extremely strong willed and tenacious, and I hope it always serves her well. She’s also energetic, athletic (especially climbing and gymnastics), and super smart. She loves to snuggle and she loves her siblings so much. She was extremely excited that the Winter Concert at school was on her birthday this year. One day this year while we were snuggling I was telling her she was sweet, and cuddly, and beautiful, and she said “You forgot Funny!” 😂🥰
I love that they wanted matching jaguars =) So cute!
One of her cutest phrases at age six is that she likes to say actions, rather than do them. For example, when someone does something silly, she’ll say “Eyeroll.” Other favorites are Wink* and Glare.* She actually says these things instead of doing them. And the dry, ironic way she says them is totally hilarious. I also love her little lopsided smile she gives when things are kind of weird.
Maia’s favorite toys are her Wild Kratt’s dress up stuff. She loves running around the house with different animal powers and outfits. Actually, she does tons of dress up now, and I adore it! She still uses her Wonder Woman costumes, and she has Star Sapphire and other superhero stuff too. Oh, and she loves mermaid dress up! We went to the Renaissance Fair at Muskogee in the spring, and she got to meet a mermaid and get a “Mermaid Wish” necklace with a real pearl inside. So cool!
Maia’s birthday had a Wild Kratt’s theme, and she got her new Aviva Creature Power Suit in her favorite color, purple!
Her favorite shows are Wild Kratt’s, Zoboomafoo, and Paw Patrol, especially the Mighty Pups episode.
Maia got a lemur stuffie for her birthday, and she got to meet a REAL lemur!
She is such a good reader. She can read whole chapter books, and often stays up past ten reading. It takes her that long to really get sleepy, she is a definite night owl. She loves reading her 5-minute storybooks. She will hide in her closet and read them from cover to cover. That’s a LOT of pages! She’s also reading all the Rainbow Magic Fairy books in our collection. She even dressed up as Evelyn the Mermicorn Fairy for Halloween. We got her a new stuffy she named Oceanina. =)
Maia the Mermicorn Fairy
Maia is extremely excited for her first year of Girl Scouts! All of her art from school comes home with the Girl Scout Daisy included in it. It’s adorable! She has read her Daisy handbook from cover to cover, and rereads the flower friend stories regularly. She pulls them out of the binder so she can sleep with them. She knows the law by heart, and even knows the order of the colors in the Daisy so she insisted on making sure her Girl Scout bracelet was in the right order. Her troop has earned a lot of petals, their outdoor artist badge, and their trail adventure badge. She went to the Trefoil Trek 1k fun run, and did some hiking on our campout with Serenity’s troop to earn the trail adventure. They made hiking snacks, necklaces with compasses and led lights for hiking, and practiced silly hiking games. They earned their Friendly and Helpful petal and took home little daisies so they could think of friendly and helpful ways to help out around their house, and leave the daisies to show they were there. We played board games to earn Lupe, the Honest and Fair petal. They played a spooky sensory game on Halloween to earn their Tula Courageous and Strong petal. We made recycled snowmen crafts to learn to Use Resources Wisely. We did a service project, making gifts for their teachers with tissue paper flowers and candy. The outdoor artist badge was one of the most fun! They made ribbon maracas to dance and sing with outside. They made nature mandalas and self portraits.

Maia is very strong and great at climbing! One day she was playing on the yoga swing and she called “Mama, come see! I’m a goddess!” She got herself into goddess pose all the way at the ceiling in the yoga swing. It was awesome!
Maia joined a softball team in the spring. One day, Maia had a softball game. The older kids had homework so I told Maia I wasn’t sure we could stay to watch. She said, “but if you leave you won’t see me throw someone out at first base!” Fortunately they finished enough that we could stay because she really did throw someone out! 😁
Mom, that is NOT what my coach told me to do. I am very grateful she has Kara to coach her because I definitely can’t. 😂😂😂
She earned a medal for climbing all the way to the TOP of the rope in gymnastics!
Maia still wants to be a builder when she grows up. She loves watching shows like the Property Brothers with me. It makes Grandma so proud =) Then she took it to a new level. Maia made the Property Brothers in block craft and is building houses 🥰😂 Her career as a builder is off to a great start! She’s also great at legos! She got an Elsa lego jewelry box for Christmas, and she has nearly all the Superhero Girls sets. She loves building and rebuilding her lego sets!
She was home sick from school so she got to help me repaint the wall and do all the switch plate covers =)
Christmas lego building =) Her Elsa Jewelry box!
Maia LOVES cards. We play Skipbo, Uno Flip, Pairs and Tails, and Own Trump.
We went on an amazing trip during the summer. We took a Disney Cruise! Maia was just the perfect age, she adored everything! She got to meet BB8 in the kids club, and she loved all the princesses. She dressed up as a parrot on Pirate night and got to fly around with Daisy Duck. She had SO much fun!!
Maia still loves BB8. She watches the Star Wars movies now! She is definitely the bravest of my kids when it comes to movies. We went to see Frozen 2 in theaters with some of her daisy friends and she loved it!
She had all the characters sign a book! We brought A Sister More Like Me, one of our favorites we bought on our first trip to Disney.
Anna, Elsa and Olaf were especially fun to meet!
Maia loves dressing up!
Strong Girl!
Maia is the most enthusiastic little chef! She loves to bake and she wants to help with dinner often. She ADORED cousin cooking camp with Aunt Jen. She has a few recipe books now and she’s tried out some new things too. We’ve gotten addicted to the Great British Baking show. She keeps thinking she sees Paul Hollywood on billboards in town and gets so excited. She wants to make the things she sees on the show too! Sasha helped her bake some bread dough and we experimented with different fillings.
Maia loves coloring, especially with her Silly Scents. She usually colors by scent, although she’s starting to draw actual pictures too now. She also really likes coloring on herself, and occasionally on her closet… And she’s very creative. I asked Maia not to color on herself after her bath one day, so she used invisible ink 😂😂😂
Maia is in Kindergarten now! She loves her classes, especially music. At Creative Producers for her music program in the spring, she got to define reprise for everyone in the audience. I loved being taught by Maia that I’ve been pronouncing “reprise” wrong my whole life. 😂. She loves art most of all, which is exciting because she used to not like holding pencils at all, and now she’s drawing!
Pajama Day with Mrs. Widdoes! All the kids are addicted to their onesies!
I love my sweet girl!!!
