Serenity's 11th Watermelon Birthday

Serenity asked for a Watermelon Birthday this year! It was such a fun and simple theme, it was perfect for a pool party! And then we thought it would be so much fun to have it in California with Vanaema and Far Far, so she could have Liz and Henry there! And it was wonderful! I limited myself to buying watermelon floaties at Target and the Dollar store, we got fishing prizes there, and we got donuts and lots of watermelon and other breakfast foods! I made four different kinds of quiche. Not sure the birthday girl wanted any of that but I wanted real food to feed people too. She was VERY happy! Eric played a fun game with the giant watermelon floatie that involved spinning people around and then dumping them off. It was extremely popular. Oh, and Serenity wanted her hair done in Daphne buns. She’s so cute! They spent hours in the pool, stopping only briefly for food and a rest. And fishing! Donovan went for a challenging fish by catching his frisbee on the side instead of using the loop. And Serenity managed to catch two fish at once! She put the extra back for someone else to try for, but she wanted a challenge too. Maia and Katherine set themselves up on a bench with some cereal for an intense conversation. Serenity swam with everyone in her adorable watermelon swimsuit and had a blast!!!
The watermelon was NOT easy to get on! I came up with a system where I’d stand on the rope attached to it and two kids would stand on either side of me and kinda slide out on their bellies. It was complicated =)
Eric made it on the watermelon!
