Donovan is Seven!
Donovan is SEVEN years old now! He is such a sweet, wonderful, funny, silly, amazing boy! He has the best giggle. He wants hugs and snuggles whenever you get close enough to be caught in his trap. He gets ready fast in the morning so he can lie in wait for those of us moving slower and catch us with hugs! He loves playing with both his sisters and they make up all kinds of crazy fun games. They love to be animals, and animal rescuers especially. He also has a surprising attachment to bad guys. He’s such a sweet kid, you wouldn’t expect him to gravitate to Darth Vader, Kylo Ren, and Boba Fett, but that’s exactly what he picked for his birthday. Of course, he gets nervous at cartoons still so he’s never watched any of the movies, so most of his information about them comes from playing Epic Duels, Star Wars Destiny, and a Star Wars app on the ipad.
Pokemon and Star Wars Mashup =) So fun!
Donovan is a great friend. Whenever we have game night, he is right in the middle of all the kids and never wants them to leave. He’s gotten to have two sleepovers now, one at his friend Joseph’s house and one here at home with Hatcher. He loves it and begs to have friends over all the time. He is always thinking about friends even when they aren’t nearby. He tells me Evan (who lives in Cali) is one of his best friends and his birthday party would not be complete without Everett and the Richards crew. He and Everett are game playing buddies now and it’s absolutely adorable.

Best Buddies =)
Donovan is really starting to get into activities outside of school now. This is his second spring in baseball, and Eric was his coach this year! He’s improved SO much. It’s really fun to play catch with him now, he can throw FAR! He’s a lot stronger and asks his Daddy to play baseball riddles with him often (that’s where Eric tells about a theoretical baseball game and Donovan tells him where the play should be.) He also started piano this spring! His first recital piece was called Sailor Jack. After the recital, he asked if he could do another recital the next day! He was really excited and tells me he wants to play piano forever. I will be thrilled if he just keeps practicing without me reminding him every day, it’s pretty awesome! His teacher says he’s improved so much at their next lesson he’s going to start on the grand staff! We will see what activities he chooses for the fall. Piano is a definite but at the moment he wants baseball, soccer AND tennis and I just don’t have that many sports in me at this age. Just like Eric though, he played all those sports and badminton too!
Another way he’s like Eric is his game playing addiction. He can even outlast Eric sometimes! He loves playing Destiny with Eric at the shop and stays up late to do so! He won the Covenant tournament last week! He went 3-0 and even beat Eric. So cool. He also loves Epic Duels, Sagrada, Mice and Mystics, Legendary, basically any game he can talk people into playing with him.
He is devouring chapter books right now. He read all of our Mercy Watson series, giggling the whole time. He read those so fast! He read three chapter books about a baseball player, some superhero chapter books, and one called Diva and Flea by Mo Willems that he called his favorite for awhile. He’s just discovered mysteries! He is in Mystery Camp at USchool and Mrs. Ritchie read them an A-Z mystery book. He went to the library and tried to check out every one they had! I had him pick just five though since we won’t have time to finish them all before we go on vacation =) He likes to snuggle up next to me at quiet time at the moment, while we are both reading our chapter books. Snuggly sweet moments to treasure!
Morning snuggles =)
Donovan loves swimming! He also wants swim lessons and ice skating lessons.
His favorite video game is currently the lego Star Wars game we got for his birthday party in case we needed an indoor activity. His favorite toys are his baseball glove and ball. His favorite stuffie is Westley his wolf stuffed animal from donating to save wolves. His favorite song is Sailor Jack. He can't decide on his favorite board game =)
I am so lucky to be this boy's Mama!
