Mama’s Bed: When she wakes up, usually in the middle of the night but sometimes now near morning, she always asks to go in Mama’s bed. She loves to snuggle! Going in Mama’s bed is also a game she plays, especially with her Daddy. They love to bounce on the bed together! Daddy says “boinga, boinga, boinga, and bounces Serenity, or whatever lucky stuffed animal is in reach, usually Lucky (who Serenity calls Yucky) or a Care Bear. Serenity loves to collect lots of friends in the bed, and they’ll take turns bouncing or getting covered up with covers. She likes to get under the blankets and call it a tent. Eric loves the way she throws herself into bouncing on the bed, just kicking her legs straight out to fall down on her bottom.
Zoo: Serenity loves going to the zoo! I’m so glad we became zoo members. She has such fun wandering around, seeing the animals, the train (that she calls Thomas) and riding the carousel. She also has fun picking up leaves, checking out flowers, and splashing in puddles one memorably rainy day at the zoo. When I asked her to go to the zoo the most recent time, she rain to the door saying “elephants!!!” and was excited to see the elephants the whole way there. We also enjoy roaring at the tiger, looking at enormous turtles, and finding the jaguar that tried to eat her cousin in the Rainforest.
Cousins: Serenity loves playing with her cousins! And they love her too! Casey takes very good care of her, he likes to read her books and find toys for her to play with. One day they had a bouncy house and a lot of Casey’s friends came over to play. He got Serenity to say all their names, he loved showing her off! And he held her on the slide a lot! He’s so sweet and helpful =) She and Raegan have a mutual admiration society too, Serenity will give her big hugs, and Rae will giggle and say, “she likes me!!!” When all the kids get together she will run in circles with them non-stop and love every minute of it! She also really loves playing with her adopted cousins, Henry and Aidan. We see movies of them on facebook a lot and she’ll ask to see them again and again!!! She also enjoys getting to see all her friends in Norman too! She loves playing with kids!
Shopping (esp Target): Serenity really loves to shop! She’ll even ask me to go shopping, and when I ask her what she wants to shop for, the usual answer is “clothes” or “Target.” We do spend a lot of time at Target =) Serenity has also done quite a bit of shopping with her Aunt Jennifer. After their first shopping trip Jen called Mom and said “God gave Chrissie and Eric my child.” Serenity is a natural. She loves to look at things and declare them “beautiful!” A few weeks after the first epic shopping trip, Serenity woke up one morning, stood by the front door and said “shopping! Jenfer!” And insisted she needed to shop with her Aunt Jennifer for clothes. =)
Music Class: I signed Serenity up for Music Class around February of this year, and I think it has been so good for her! It’s just amazing to see how far she’s progressed in the last six months. At first she’d mostly sit quietly in my lap listening. Then she started getting excited for her favorite activities, especially eggs and jingle bells and sticks. She loves shaking the eggs, and she loves putting things away in the bucket when the activity is done. Now she even participates when we’re doing tonal patterns or rhythm patterns, saying ba, ba, ba ba ba, (rhythm) or tonal patterns, where they say some phrase like Quack or La in different tones. She dances now on her own and loves running around with the other kids. She’s getting more adventurous every week. Soon I’ll have to start trying to get her to be quiet when it’s not her turn instead of having to coax her to participate. =)
